Newsletter 29th April 2021

Newsletter to all Parents

Dear Parents,

Firstly, I would like to convey our sincere thanks to our parents for your help and support in ensuring that to date our school has been kept free of Covid19. Without this assistance we could not have achieved this. I now ask that you keep up the good work for the remainder of the school year, be vigilant when your child shows symptoms consistent with the virus and wear a mask in the vicinity of the school if you leave your vehicle, or if you walk to collect your children from school.

Please note the following:

Mayo DayMayo Day takes place on this Saturday, May 1st. To mark the occasion we are asking the children to wear Green and Red to school on tomorrow (Friday April 30th).

May Bank Holiday.

The school will be closed on Monday next, May 3rd for the May Bank Holiday. We will reopen as usual on Tuesday May 4th.

Health Screening.

The HSE public health nurse will be in school from Wednesday next, May 5th to carry out health screening (Hearing, Sight etc) assessments on children in Junior Infants and on all children who have joined the school since November 2020 when the previous screening took place. Where relevant, parents should make sure to return the screening forms to school at your earliest possible convenience but no later than Tuesday May 4th.

Confirmation and First Holy Communion.

Confirmation will take place for 6th class pupils only, on Thursday June 10th in Knock Basilica at 12p.m. (TBC). Unfortunately due to the number of children involved we could not make provisions for the 5th class to be included in this ceremony as previously planned. Alternative arrangements will be made for these children in the new school year.

The First Holy Communion will now take place on Saturday June 12th in Ballyhaunis Parish Church. As there are circa 20 children scheduled to receive their First Holy Communion on the day,  it will be necessary to administer the sacrament in two sittings at 11 a.m and at 12 p.m. (TBC). This will allow larger family groups to attend within the 50 person limit imposed by restrictions.

Please note provisional on there being no restrictions re-imposed which would prevent indoor gatherings.

End of Term

Please note that the school will close for the Summer break on Tuesday June 22nd and not on Friday June 25th as previously informed.

Stay Safe Programme.

The teachers are currently covering the relevant Stay Safe programme with all classes. Parents have received letters from the class teachers indicating the areas to be covered in each class.

With Thanks,

K.Dennedy
