Important Notice re: Covid 19 Provisions for the 2021-2022 school year

Dear Parents,

As we prepare for the children’s return to school I wish to bring the following to your notice.

Delta Covid Variant.

You will no doubt be aware of the spread of the most recent variant of the Covid 19 virus, namely the Delta variant. Unlike the previous variants of the virus this is an extremely infectious one and is a variety that spreads quickly and has infected a significantly larger number of the population than with previous variants. The following are the recorded symptoms:

o A fever or High Temperature

o A Cough – This can be any kind of cough, not just a dry cough as with previous variants.

o Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties.

o Loss or change in sense of taste or small.

o Fatigue/Tiredness

o Aches or Pains

o Sore Throat

o Headaches

o Runny or stuffy noses.

o Sickness or vomiting

o Diarrhoea.

It is worth noting that we as a primary school are in a very precarious position relative to the risk of infection as our pupils are now the only unvaccinated cohort. This unfortunately means that we have to act on any of the above symptoms and ensure that children presenting with the symptoms are sent home immediately. This action will be carried out without exception unless we are in receipt of medical certification showing that the child has previously contracted Covid 19 and has attained immunity from infection. While this action may seem draconian, we as a school have a duty of care to all pupils and as such we are required to do everything in our power to keep the premises safe and infection free. We are aware that this poses an extraordinary challenge and we appeal to all parents to cooperate with us in the interests of all of our school community. We thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

Contact Details.

It is essential that we have correct details regarding contact details for the children. This included up to date contact numbers and emails. All communications with parents will be forwarded by either text message or by email making it a matter of some urgency that contact details are accurate and up to date. This is also essential in managing any possible Covid19 outbreaks.

With Thanks,

K. Dennedy
