Final School Newsletter June ’23

Dear Parents,

As we reach the end of another school year I would like to bring the following notices to your attention:

Bake Sale

Our Sixth Class pupils will hold a bake sale on tomorrow (Tuesday June 13th). All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the ‘Together for Ger’ appeal. Children are asked to bring in €2 which will allow them to purchase 3 items at the cake sale. 

End of Year Arrangements.

The school will close for the end of year on Wednesday June 21st. All children will finish at 12 p.m. and should be collected promptly at this time. 

School Reports

School reports will be issued before the final day of term. Please ensure that you have supplied a stamped self addressed envelope to your child’s class teacher to facilitate delivery of the reports.

School Books.

As previously informed the children will receive all school books and copies/exercise books free of charge. Parents will be issued with a list of stationery which is required for the beginning of the new school year. The children will also need to purchase the school homework book will be available from the school at the beginning of the school year. 

We would be grateful for donations of textbooks as there will no longer be a second hand market. Please send these to your current class teacher as soon as possible. Thanks.

Sixth Class Graduation.

We will hold our graduation ceremony for our departing Sixth Class Pupils on , Friday next June 16th commencing at 1:30 p.m. The format will be as follows:

1:30 p.m. : Graduation Ceremony and Presentation of Certificates/attendance awards to 6th Class Pupils.

2:15 p.m.  : Graduation/End of Year Mass.

The children will wear their normal school uniform/tracksuit for the ceremony

 Non Catholic children may go home at 2 p.m. before the mass commences should they so wish. Friday 16th will be the final school day for 6th Class pupils.

Reopening for 2021-2022 School Year.

The school will reopen to pupils on Wednesday August 30th for new JUNIOR INFANT pupils only. All other pupils will start back on Thursday August 31st. Please note that new Junior Infants pupils will finish daily at 12:00 p.m. until Friday September 15th. From Monday September 18th all infant pupils will finish at 1:55 p.m.

DEIS Summer Camps.

Under the DEIS scheme, the school has been authorised to hold two summer camps over the first two weeks of July. The camps are free of charge and will be activity based with each camp lasting for one week as follows:

Week 1 : Monday July 3rd – Friday July 7th

Week 2 : Monday July 10th – Friday July 14th.

Each camp will be limited to 36 children and places will be allocated on a ‘First Come, First Served’ basis. An application form is attached to this newsletter. Parents who wish to avail of  places on the camp for their children should return these forms at their earliest convenience.

Leavers.

To assist us with planning for the next school year, we ask that where families intend to return to their home country on a permanent basis or where families are moving from Ballyhaunis, the school should be informed as soon as possible.

  • School Opens (Junior Infants): Wednesday August 30th
  • School Opens(All other classes): Thursday August 31st.
  • Mid Term Break, School Closes: Friday October 27th
  • School Reopens: Monday November 6th.
  • Standardised Testing: Week of 13th-17th November.
  • Parent Teacher Meetings: Thursday 30th November & Friday 1st December.
  • End of Term: Friday December 22nd
  • Term 2 Begins: Monday  January 8th.
